Profile - James R. Spring CHSEP, RPT, GSI

Jim is our senior coordinator and Training Instructor at First Place Safety Ltd.  He comes from a long history of tradition in the farming community in Innisfil township.  The Spring family is one of the originating families in the area and still operate as a agricultural business in the community.

At seventeen, Jim enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and served in both the Combat Arms and Logistics trades.  After retiring from the CF with full honors, two tours overseas and two decorations, he returned home to join an existing family owned and operated company “Spring Tree Farm Corporation.”

Working his way up the chain from a labourer, lead hand and than to heavy equipment operator, Jim was promoted to Operations Manager/Estimator for the company.  Along with this designation he was also tasked with being an Occupational Health and Safety Management Representative, and Training Officer.

After 25 years of training, certifications and being an instructor within the CF both in the field and as a Logistics NCM, Jim took Health and Safety to a new level.  It was evident that he had a keen interest in promoting Health and Safety both as an experienced Health & Safety worker and management reprensentative, and he is nothing short of professional at training.  Jim furthered himself through education, training and certification, obtaining diplomas in Business (BIT), Health, Safety and Environmental Processes (CHSEP), and as a Certified Professional Trainer (RPT) to mention a few.  Jim has many instructor qualifications in Health and Safety and his years of training, knowledge and experience, has afforded him to running his own Health and Safety Training Company, First Place Safety Ltd.

Jim has a long and distinguished resume both through his military career, post secondary education, and Occupational Health and Safety.  He continues to upgrade his skills as an instructor and consultant.  He strives to be a distinguished voice in the Occupational Health and Safety field, and is currently involved in obtaining his Construction Safety Coordinator (CSC), through the Canadian Construction Association as a Gold Seal Intern and preparing to write the exam for his Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
